What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments are disabled on most of this site, and are not displayed publicly even when submitted. When visitors do leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. User login for commenting has been disabled so that cookies are not set in your browser.

This website does not allow visitors to upload media.

Contact forms + mailing lists

This website does not currently collect data through contact forms. If you wish to be added to our mailing list, you should send an email to info [at] with the subject line “add me to your list.” If you send such an email you will be considered to have proactively opted-in to our mailing list. We do not collect any other contact information and do not share contact information provided to us with any third parties. We do store our mailing list on a third-party server.

Embedded content from other websites

Some pages on this site may include embedded content (mostly, videos from Vimeo or Youtube). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

We collect data on how many unique visitors and hits our website pages receive. We do not collect data on individual visitors or their IP addresses.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your data with anyone.

How long we retain your data

Because commenting has been disabled everywhere possible on the site, and the only comments received are inevitably spam, comments posted to this site are generally deleted as soon as noticed by the administrator, unless they are trackbacks. Trackback comment data and metadata will be retained indefinitely but will not be shared publicly.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you have requested to join the mailing list, you may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the emails. Any contact information you have provided will be completely deleted from our database at that time.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
